Malvolio also wanted to make sure that Cesario knew that by Olivia giving the ring back it meant that Olivia doesn’t love him (actually a girl).  In the end Cesario realizes that Olivia actually loves him and that this is a sign. Cesario thinks that Olivia can do much better than a girl pretending to be a guy.

The next day the men hide and watch him open the letter so they are sure that he feels that Olivia is in love with him. He wears bright yellow clothing and is rude to the kinsmen because that is what the letter that Maria forged said to do. He looks like a fool when he does all this in front of Olivia because she actually hates when men do that they just wanted him to look like a fool.
